Madaeme Venus is the quirky story of one superstitious rural Oklahoma town’s initiation into the mystifying world of luck, when a mysterious fortune-teller sets up shop in a vacant house on the edge of town; and the town’s reaction, and the wretchedly humorous consequences of their actions. Told through the eyes of a young girl who hears the story in bits and pieces of rumors, and who can’t remember if she was four or five, six or seven, or seven or eight when Madaeme Venus and her “prostashoot” daughter came to town.
